:: Event #42 (,500 NLH) – With 25 remaining, James Schaaf takes the chip lead into the final day of play, stacked at 1,258,000. HIYA candidate Dean Hamrick is third overall with 858,000. Also remaining include the insufferably annoying Humberto Brenes (764,000), Mike Sowers (327,000), and Bernard Lee (48,000). Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #43 (,000 H.O.R.S.E.) – The money bubble broke right before play ended, and 23 remain. Cuong Do is the chip leader, stacked at 720,000. He would be a deep track HIYA guy, if you remember him from 2006. Other notables include but are certainly not limited to Brian Townsend (616,000), Carlos Mortensen (503,000), Nick Schulman (402,000), Scott Fischman (347,000), and where-the-eff-has-he-been-this-year Todd Brunson (274,000). Another close call, but Phil Hellmuth will not win his 12th WSOP bracelet today.

Hellmuth was eliminated in seventh place in Event #41 (,500 PLO 8oB). Had he won, this would’ve been Hellmuth’s first non-hold’em WSOP bracelet. For the…seventh…Hellmuth banks ,633.

When he was introduced and on many hands, we heard boos and even taunts against Hellmuth. The tournament announcer warned the crowd against taunting at one point. While Hellmuth’s TV antics are way over-the-top and probably getting worse, dude has many, many more haters than he did a couple of years ago. Crazy.

In related news, John Gottlieb is currently leading Event #41. If he were to close it out, this would not be his 12th bracelet. However, he may get some coffee, because coffee is for closers.

UPDATE: Another Brit, Steve Jelinek, takes this one down. Jelinek defeated John Gottlieb heads-up for the title, banking 5,871.

Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi (left foreground) brought one of the bigger racks to the final table but was not able to capture his second 2010 WSOP bracelet.

We love cheesy/obvious newspaper headlines, and often try to think of what kind of headline a major event will have (it’s practically how we make our Kentucky Derby picks).

Anyway, we figured it was about 100% that “A masterful win…” would be somehere in the lead for Men “The Master” Nguyen’s victory in Event #10 (,000 7CS), and the wsop.com obliged with the sub-head: “A Masterful Win in the 2010 Seven Card Stud World Championship.”

The victory gave Nguyen 4,807 and his 7th WSOP bracelet (crazy, right?), meaning he’s now just as good of a poker player as Phil Ivey* and Billy Baxter, tying them for fifth most overall.

Nguyen defeated the recently-on-60-Minutes Brandon Adams (3,958) heads-up for the title.

Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi finished sixth (,949).

Chad Brown is among the many big names remaining Event #14.

Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan seems more focused/playing more events in this year’s WSOP compared to the past couple (read: prop bets), and his attempt to capture his first bracelet is definitely the major story of the day. Here’s what else is going on at the Rio.

:: Event #9 (,500 PLH) – Brit James Dempsey made his way through a field of 650 to capture his first bracelet and 7,470. J.J. Liu, a woman, finished third (,512). Get full final table payouts here.

:: Event #11 (,500 NLH) – With 21 remaining, the aforementioned Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan ended play as chip leader, stacked at 1,068,000. He’s followed by Marvin Rettenmaier of Germany with 953,000. Vladimir Schmelev and Michael Mizrachi are going balls-to-the-wall at this year's WSOP, as both are making another deep run.

Phil Hellmuth’s elimination from Event #8 in 15th place took some of the buzz out of the Rio yesterday. Still, some big names are making runs again. Here’s the latest.

:: Event #8 (,500 NLH) – In the aforementioned Event #8, French-Canadian college student Pascal LeFrancois won his first bracelet, banking 8,974. A meh friends and familyTM final table otherwise. Results here.

:: Event #9 (,500 PLH) – J.J. Liu, a woman, has a chance to reclaim the Year of the WomanTM moniker for this year’s WSOP. She enters final table play stacked third overall with 479,000. Steve Chanthabouasy is chip leader, stacked at 533,000. Two other women, Julie Farkas, a woman (10th) and Melissa Hayden, a woman (13th) just missed the final table. Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #10 (,000 7CS) – The field of 150 has played down to 12, with Vladimir Schmelev big stacked at 921,000. He’s followed by Sirious Jamshidi (638,000) and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi (544,000). Get full chip counts here.

Tom 'durrrr' Dwan could be on the verge of a huge payday…

So all the buzz around the 2010 WSOP right now is if Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan can win his first bracelet–and ship a ton in prop bet earnings.

According to Benjo, there was a Big Gamers meeting, presumably, to discuss buy-outs on their durrrr bracelet bets (read tweet here) .

And according to PokerListings, Huck Seed already bought out of his bet with durrrr and Eli Elezra could be losing an assload.

As of post-time, durrrr is chip leader again, after briefly losing it, with seven remaining. Should be interesting. Follow the action here.
