Extree–extree–read all about it…Durrrr Challenge 2 underway…

The second installment of the Durrrr ChallengeTM got underway yesterday.

Much like Godfather Part 2, The Empire Strikes Back, the second season of Temptation Island, or the second time in the same day when you were sex as teenager, it looks like the second go-around will be much better than the first.

In this edition, Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan is taking on Daniel ‘jungleman12′ Cates. With 5,829 hands already in the books after one session, Cates surged to an early lead, posting a 8,000 profit.

Of course, the first Durrrr Challenge is still going on after 18 months, with Patrik Antonius so far behind, it doesn’t really matter anymore. Antonius needs to make like France and surrender already.

For those who need a refresher on the challenge:
- You play durrrr 50,000 hands of 0/0 or higher on four tables at a time.
- If either player drops below 75 big blinds at any point…reload.
- Durrrr laid 3:1 odds on his victory.
- At the conclusion of the 50,000 hands, if durrrr is ahead by or more, his opponent must fork ship 0,000 to durrrr (along with whatever was lost, of course, during play). If durrrr’s opponent is ahead by or more, then he would ship .5 million to said opponent.

2009 WSOPE Update: Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan Leads Event #3, Has Hot Girlfriend

Chad Brown is among the many big names remaining Event #14.

Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan seems more focused/playing more events in this year’s WSOP compared to the past couple (read: prop bets), and his attempt to capture his first bracelet is definitely the major story of the day. Here’s what else is going on at the Rio.

:: Event #9 (,500 PLH) – Brit James Dempsey made his way through a field of 650 to capture his first bracelet and 7,470. J.J. Liu, a woman, finished third (,512). Get full final table payouts here.

:: Event #11 (,500 NLH) – With 21 remaining, the aforementioned Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan ended play as chip leader, stacked at 1,068,000. He’s followed by Marvin Rettenmaier of Germany with 953,000. Last year’s Ante Up for Africa winner Alex Bolotin is eleventh overall with 480,000. Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #12 (,500 LH) – The Limit Hold’em event played town to 13, with Jason Potter (memba him) as big stack with 371,000. Also remaining are Terrence Chan (288,000) and Matt Matros (272,000). Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #13 (,000 NLH) – Day 1A brought in 1922 entrants with 304 surviving. Notable big stacks include but are certainly not limited to Andy Black (90,275), Phil Collins (44,375), Phil Gordon (44,225), Paul Wasicka (27,725), and Shaun Deeb (26,850). Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #14 (,500 2-7 NL Lowball) – The final event of the day brought in 250 players with 67 remaining. Nick Binger ended day as chip leader, stacked at 54,300. Plenty of big names remain, including but certainly not limited to Scott Seiver (46,875 ), Chino Rheem (42,275), Josh Arieh (32,275), Chad Brown (25,325), Erick Lindgren (16,600), Bryan Micon (15,100), and durrrr (10,250). Tom 'durrrr' Dwan could be on the verge of a huge payday…

So all the buzz around the 2010 WSOP right now is if Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan can win his first bracelet–and ship a ton in prop bet earnings.

According to Benjo, there was a Big Gamers meeting, presumably, to discuss buy-outs on their durrrr bracelet bets (read tweet here) .

And according to PokerListings, Huck Seed already bought out of his bet with durrrr and Eli Elezra could be losing an assload.

As of post-time, durrrr is chip leader again, after briefly losing it, with seven remaining. Should be interesting. Follow the action here.
